Bingöl is the only region in Turkey with a Geographical Indication for honey, the same legal protection given to Champagne and Parma ham. This jar comes from there.

It is harvested at over 2,000 metres in the eastern Turkish highlands, where around 1,000 wild flowering species grow. 109 of them are found nowhere else on Earth. The bees forage on wild astragalus and blackthorn, far from farmland and sprays. Our partner apiaries have kept hives here since 1970.

Why it's different

  • Lab tested batch by batch: every jar carries a QR code linking to its analysis from Bingöl University
  • Gold at the London Honey Awards 2022 and the Paris Honey Awards 2023, and second place at Apimondia World 2017
  • Raw and unblended: single origin, never pasteurised, never cut with syrup
  • Certified by the Bingöl Beekeepers Association, the body behind the GI protection

How to use it

Take a spoonful in the morning, stir it into warm (not boiling) water with lemon, or spread it over yoghurt, porridge or good bread. It may crystallise naturally; that is a sign of purity, not a fault. Stand the jar in warm water to return it to liquid.

460g amber glass jar. Recyclable. Not suitable for infants under 12 months.
